7-Day Oberoi Philae Cruise [Luxor to Aswan]

Day 1: Luxor Arrival, Embarkation, and Luxor Sightseeing

When you arrive at Luxor Airport, you will be met by one of our tour representatives who will then escort you in a modern air-conditioned vehicle to a private docking port where you will board the luxury 5-Star Oberoi Philae Nile Cruise. Embarkation is set for 12h00, and at 12h30 they will begin serving lunch on board, in the vessel’s tastefully decorated dining area.

After you have enjoyed your first onboard meal, you will have some time to relax or to get settled into your cabin.

Then, at 14h00, you will have a relatively short tour of Luxor’s East Bank, stopping first at the massive Karnak Temple complex which was the subject of ongoing construction over a period of about 2,000 years. While most of the site has been destroyed, it is nonetheless one of the most visited ancient sites in the Nile River Valley.

After visiting Karnak, you will then head to the wonderful Luxor Museum before finally returning to the Oberoi Philae, with a bit of time to spare before dinner is served at 19h30. Tonight you will spend your first night in the comfort of your cabin on the water in Luxor.

Day 2: Luxor West Bank and Overnight at Quina

Wake up to an early breakfast which will be served in the beautifully decorated dining area of the Oberoi Philae Nile Cruise from 06h00 to 07h00.

And then it will be time to disembark for a visit to the West Bank of ancient Thebes where you will visit one of Egypt’s most enthralling sites, the Valley of Kings. This ancient necropolis lay buried beneath the sand for hundreds of years until eventually; more than 70 royal tombs were unearthed, including the tomb of King Tutankhamen and that of King Ramses VI.

Later, you will visit the ancient temple of Medinet Habu, and the ruins of Deir El Medina that was once a city inhabited by the craftsmen who created the tombs at the Valley of Kings.

Finally, you will have a brief stop at the Colossi of Memnon as you make your way back to the luxurious Oberoi Philae Nile Cruise for a delightful onboard lunch and a cruise to Qena where you will be visiting the ancient temple of Dendera.

Upon returning to your cruise liner, you will be invited to a complimentary cocktail party at 20h00, and then it will be time for you to sit down and order another fabulous onboard dinner. Enjoy your dinner, and then curl up in your cabin for a good night’s sleep on the water in Quina.

Day 3: Quina Sightseeing and Cruise to Luxor

Wake up to an early breakfast and a 07h00 visit to the Temple of Abydos, a historical attraction not included in most Nile River cruises.

At 12h00 the Oberoi Philae Nile Cruise will depart for Luxor. Enjoy another good lunch and two hours of well-deserved leisure time, and then visit the spectacular Luxor temple.

Dinner will be served from 19h30 onwards, and you will spend this night on the water in Luxor.

Day 4: Cruise to Edfu with Sightseeing Tour

Today is primarily about quality leisure time, but there is also some unforgettable Egypt sightseeing planned.

Enjoy a very leisurely breakfast which will be served from 07h00 to 10h00 while the Oberoi Philae Nile Cruise is sailing to Edfu.

The crew will begin serving lunch at 13hoo and then there will be more time to do as you please, with a visit to Edfu Temple scheduled for 16h00. This temple was dedicated to Horus, and it is by far and away the best-preserved temple of the ancient world.

After enjoy a wonderfully interesting and relaxing day, satisfy your appetite with another excellent onboard dinner, and then spend some time appreciating the moment, or retire to our cabin for a blissful night’s rest

Day 5: Cruise to Kom Ombo and on to Aswan

The Oberoi Philae Nile Cruise will be off to an early start today, leaving Edfu at 06h00.

Enjoy another excellent breakfast on board while sailing to Kom Ombo where you will visit the amazing Kom Ombo Temple that was built to honor Horus the Falcon God, and Sobek, the God of fertility and the creator of the world.

At around 12h30 you will enjoy another good onboard lunch, and the Oberoi Philae Nile Cruise will see sail for Aswan where you will be enjoying another excellent dinner, and another comfortable night’s sleep on the quiet waters of the Nile.

Day 6: Leisure Time and Aswan Sightseeing

Wake up on the water in Aswan and enjoy another 5-Star breakfast, and then spend most of this day relaxing and enjoying the Oberoi Philae’s wonderful amenities.

Alternatively, enjoy an optional excursion (highly recommended) to the breathtaking Abu Simbel Temple.

At 14h00 you will disembark for a memorable trip to the High Dam of Aswan, followed by a visit to the fascinating Temple of Philae that was moved to its present location in order to save it from being inundated by the rising waters of Lake Nasser after the High Dam was constructed.

When you return from Philae Temple you will once again have some free time, and then you will be able to enjoy another excellent onboard dinner before retiring to your luxury cabin for another lovely night’ s sleep on the water in Aswan.

Day 7: Disembarkation in Aswan

Nothing lasts forever, and the same applies to your 7-Day Luxor to Aswan Oberoi Philae Nile Cruise. Enjoy one final breakfast on the magnificent Oberoi Philae, and then it will be time for your final disembarkation.

Once again, one of our tour managers will be standing by to meet you, and they will then escort you to Aswan Airport for your final departure, or your journey to another fascinating region of Egypt.
