Naama Bay – An All-Year Destination on the Red Sea Coast

If you are looking for a wonderful holiday destination in the sun, then Naama Bay at Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt might be just what you have been searching for.

Being on Egypt’s Red Sea coast means that the weather here is typically pleasant all year round, unlike in other parts of the country which can get uncomfortably hot during the summer months.

Naama Bay – An All-Year Destination on the Red Sea Coast

Naama Bay is a natural bay, but the name can also refer to the surrounding area which is widely considered to be Sharm El-Sheikh’s main tourist area. The area has an abundance of cafes; shops; bars; restaurants; and nightclubs, some of which stay open almost until the sun comes up.

Because of this vibrant atmosphere, and a particularly lively nightlife scene, Naama Bay has become the sort of place you either like or you don’t.

One of Naama Bay’s biggest draws is the fact that almost everything seems to be within walking distance, regardless of where you want to go or what you want to see.

There are also several very nice Sinai Tourist Attractions just a short drive away for those who want to enjoy some sightseeing during their stay.

Red Sea Diving and Snorkeling

The Red Sea is famous the world over for its astonishingly beautiful dive sites, and many of those sites are in close proximity to Naama Bay, including at places such as Ras Mohammed National Park and Nabq Protected Area.

At Egypt Tours Plus you can find a number of Egypt travel packages which combine diving and snorkeling trips, but even if your chosen itinerary doesn’t include this, you will find many local tour operators offering dive trips.

Alternatively, most Naama Bay hotels and resorts should be able to make the necessary arrangements for you if you want to go snorkeling or SCUBA diving during your stay.

St. Catherine’s Monastery

St. Catherine’s Monastery makes for a great day-trip from Naama Bay. Most tourists who visit the monastery from Naama Bay will leave in the morning and return in the late afternoon, but it you have the time, a stay in one of the hotels which have sprung up around the monastery is certainly recommended.

St. Catherine’s Monastery is a Christian monastery that was built between 548 and 565. Today, it is one of the oldest working monasteries in the world.

The monastery is an important pilgrimage site for many Christians, as is Mount Sinai on which the monastery stands. The mount’s importance for Christians is due to the teachings of the Old Testament which say that this is where God gave Moses the 10 Commandments.

This is also where Moses saw the burning bush.
