Day 4: Visit Kom Ombo and Edfu, then Overnight at Esna

Today your cruise liner will depart from Aswan relatively early, and you will enjoy a leisurely breakfast while the boat sails towards Kom Ombo. After breakfast you will have some free time for relaxing on board this classic boat, and then once you arrive at Kom Ombo, you will disembark with group and your guide, and you will be taken to visit the famous Kom Ombo Temple.

Kom Ombo Temple is a symmetrical temple that was built to appease two different gods: Sobek the crocodile god and controller of the waters, and Haroeris the falcon-headed god. This complex could be described as being two temples in one, in that there is two of everything, including identical entrances, halls, and sanctuaries. This was done so that each of the two gods had their own temple, and both needed to be identical so that neither of the gods would feel offended.

After what will surely be an unforgettable visit to this temple, you will return to your boat, and you will be served a delicious lunch while it sails to Edfu. When you reach Edfu, the boat will tie up, and you will disembark for another excellent tour, this time to Edfu Temple.

Edfu Temple is one of the largest temples of the ancient world ever discovered in Egypt. It is also the most well-preserved ancient temple in Egypt, and this is due to the fact that it was buried beneath the sand for around 2,000 years. It really is a stunning site, and no Nile cruise would be complete without a visit to this site.

Once you have seen everything there is to see at the temple, you will return to your cruise liner, and you will sail to Esna where you will be spending the night on the ship.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Afternoon Tea, and Dinner

Day 5: Leisure Cruise with Luxor West Bank and East Bank Tours

The 5th day of our Egypt and Jordan luxury tours package once again begins with a good wholesome breakfast and then you will be visiting Luxor’s West Bank to see 3 astonishing sites.

Your tour today will begin with a visit to a vast ancient necropolis called Valley of the Kings.

A huge number of tombs were constructed here over a period of 500 years, from the 16th century BC to the 11th century BC. Archeologists have discovered more than 60 tombs in this area, all of which belonged to pharaohs and powerful nobles of the New Kingdom. The tombs range from basic pit-like structures, to complex tombs containing as many as 120 chambers.

Some of the most famous tombs in the area include the tombs of Ramesses II; Ramesses III; his father Setnakhte, and the boy king, Tutankhamen.

Your next stop after this ancient burial ground will be the remarkable mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the 5th pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty. Dedicated to Amun, the sun god, this temple is considered one of Egypt’s most prized ancient monuments, and no journey through Ancient Egypt would be complete without a visit to this extraordinary site.

After exploring the temple, you will continue to the Colossi of Memnon, where you can enjoy these iconic statues as the final stop of your morning excursion before returning to the ship for lunch.

You and your group will then return to the boat in time for dinner, and tonight you will sleep on board the vessel at Luxor.

Day 9: Lost City Tour at Petra

At the agreed time, you will again be picked up from your hotel, and then you will travel to Petra which is about a 2.5 hour drive.

Petra, also often referred to as the Rose Red City or the Lost City of Petra, was established by the Arab Nabateans, a nomadic tribe, sometime during the 6th century BC. The Nabateans carved their new city into the rock sides of a gorge in the Jordan Desert, and it was from here that they were able to establish a powerful commercial empire which would eventually reach all the way to Syria.

On arrival at Petra you will meet up with an English speaking specialist guide and your private tour will begin with a walk that leads you to the canyon, which is officially called the Siq. Once inside the canyon you pass between towering rock formations, some reaching more than 80 meters above you. Next, you will move on to see the most striking monument at the site, the Treasury. After some time at the Treasury, you will move on to see the Street of Facades; the Royal Tombs, and finally Pharaoh’s Castle.
